Winter is officially upon us!!  It’s time to pull out your favourite warm coats & leather boots that you’ve had stored away from last year and curl up in front of the fire with a delicious cup of hot chocolate!! Winter is great isn’t it!!?

…..well your skin does not think so!

Unfortunately, along with the cool winter air also comes the dry, flakey, patchy dull skin!!

But fear not! We are here to share our most sought after tips and tricks on how to keep your skin looking fresh and radiant all year round.

  • Avoid steaming hot showers!

We are all guilty of it in Winter. Showering under scorching hot water that you can only just bare to stand under but oh does it feel good to be heating yourself up!

Unfortunately though the hot water & the hot steam are not doing wonders for your skin. It is best to shower under lukewarm water instead, to avoid stripping as many oils away from the skin.

  1. Reassess Your Cleanser!

If you are noticing a significant change in your skin through Winter, it’s a good idea to try switching your favourite cleanser for a more hydrating version that contains moisturizing ingredients. We recommend the ‘Hydrating Cleanser by Derma-E’.

  1. Moisturise!

Moisturising should be an essential part of your everyday routine, however in the Winter months it is even more important to be on top of. Try opting for an oil-based rather than a water-based moisturiser, as it’s more likely to help your skin retain moisture in the winter. We recommend Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre or Nivea’s Rich Moisturising Day Cream.

TIP:  When stepping out of the shower, don’t leave it more than 60 seconds before applying your moisturiser!

  1. Hydrate From Within!

Applying endless moisturisers, oils & balms definitely help, however what most people forget to do is ensure they keep hydrated from within! We may not feel as quenched for thirst in the cooler months however drinking the recommended 2 Litres of water a day will certainly assist in keeping your skin plump & regenerated. It’s the single best thing you can do for your complexion!

  1. Exfoliate!

You can apply all the moisturiser in the world, in yet the moisture can’t get in if the dead cells are too plentiful! By gently exfoliating a few times a week, immediately followed by your moisturiser routine, you will notice a big difference in the smoothness of your skin. Don’t forget to exfoliate the rest of your body too, especially in the cooler months!
